![]() ![]() Unless something better comes up or Discord tells me it won't work, I'm probably going to go with this since its even cheaper than the DIY options. This particular clicker has an on/off switch, meaning no low power mode. ![]() Just not a great feature to have when you're racing and need it to work. The device will reactivate when the button is pressed, but it have to repair the connection and blah blah blah. I also saw when digging into bluetooth shutter buttons (seriously, I tried a LOT of stuff) that one of the common diy bluetooth issues is low-power mode. Unless Discord support tells me otherwise then this not only works but could allow me to setup macros on the other button too. The functions of page down and page up buttons can be switched between Page Down/Up, Left/Right Arrow and Up/Down Arrow, by pressing the page down and page up buttons at the same time. I might will have to chop up the housing to make it fit correctly, but according to the question section it sends a key command to change the slide. My mind is still blown that I can't find this. So can someone help me understand why push to talk buttons are so expensive and difficult to find? Better yet, can someone help me figure out how to add a button to my wheel that can do the simple job of activating a keystroke so discord can use it for push to talk? I cannot fathom why these three buttons + velcro cost $85, and are a bargain as far as I can tell on the PTT button market. On the surface this sounds like it's tailored to fix exactly this problem. The best find, however, was when I stumbled upon push to talk buttons. Eventually I was reduced to searching for powerpoint remotes and to see which dongle-paired mouse is the smallest! My only reasonable option at the moment is to buy the cheapest mouse/clicker I can find and rig it up on my wheel with a macro. Next I tried searching for programmable keys. Still surprised that female usb-bluetooth transmitters dont seem to exist. I tried looking for a paired set of usb dongles (male and female) that could connect two usb devices wirelessly, even if its uni-directional. I tried searching for all kinds of buttons and switches. That or my googling skills are much worse than I thought because I have searched for days without any success. Ideally someone wouldve coupled one of these buttons with a bluetooth dongle like every $10 wireless mouse on amazon and a couple coin batteries and eliminated the wire. All I need is one button with a usb plug, and a software driver on the laptop to interpret the button press. Now I may only play with electronics as a hobby, but I expected this would be pretty simple. After a rather unpleasant race of biting my tongue to not spam the voice channel with my musings to myself, I thought it would be good to add a simple push to talk button to my wheel for future races. I was getting the same thing as you it looked initially like the game was picking up something as the bubble would appear but then go away and it wasn't really doing it when I spoke.īut the "set as default communication device" (right click on the mic in Sound Control Panel - this appears on the right side in Sound settings under "Related settings") was the solution.Īfter I did that, it was working as before the update.I use a Fanatec wheel on Forza 7 with the Xbox One, and the league I race in uses Discord for chat. Including setting the input and output for Sea of Thieves in Sound Settings - Advanced sound options - App volume device preferences (the game needs to be running for it to appear there). Up to that point I had tried everything - setting every Xbox app's input and output. After hours of chasing it, it turned out to be very simple but easily missable: Windows had turned off the option on my mic in Sound Control Panel which had it set as the Default Communication Device. I did that last night and I had a very similar issue. Out of curiosity, did you do the latest Windows 10 update to version 20H2? I have tried everything people say online and no luck. My microphone works, I have used it before. Most of the time when I press the key it doesnt work, but sometimes the bubble appears for a few seconds and then dissapears.
